About Speaker
Aruddha Devi Dasi married Anantarupa Das and moved to the US. Together they started a temple in Boise, USA, in 1986 as a small weekly program in their home. Now thirty years later there is a beautiful ISKCON temple for Sri Sri Radha Bankebihari.
Aruddha homeschooled her two sons, Radhika Ramana and Gopal Hari, by mainly using the Srimad Bhagavatam translated by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Both her sons completed their PhDs from Oxford University at the age of 21. This experience gave her the conviction that the Bhagavatam can give a child everything he/she needs to become a well-rounded devotee and member of society. While her children graduated early, Aruddha explains that is not the goal. Rather, for her it reinforced that through learning from the Srimad Bhagavatam, children develop a higher capacity to absorb and complex subjects and principles are assimilated with ease.
Aruddha is the author of Homeschooling Krishna’s Children, which is published by the BBT. This book provides a complete guide to Krishna conscious parenting. With the help of a team of parents from around the world, she has been publishing Srimad Bhagavatam – A Comprehensive Guide for Young Readers (Cantos 1, 2 3,4, 5, 6 and 7 are available on Amazon as well as the publishers in Delhi). Her team creates engaging study content to guide children, parents and teachers to study Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Bhāgavatam, chapter by chapter in a delightful way.
At the age of 73 she is travelling the world to share her wisdom and experience. She is hopeful that parents will see the value in giving their children the strongest foundation based in Bhakti principles.
